Nagpur: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Nagpur Division, registered a case against two persons and a pharmaceutical firm for allegedly conspiring to buy, relabel and sell banned as well as bogus medicines without a licence.
Yash Berry (31) and Manheer Singh, residents of Zirakpur in Punjab , along with a pharmaceutical firm, have been named as accused. The report by the FDA drug inspector states that the accused procured medicinal drugs and other preparations banned by the govt, supplied them without a licence, and affixed new labels on bottles of bogus drugs before pushing them into the market. The complainant, a drug inspector attached to the FDA divisional office, is responsible for inspecting places of manufacture, storage and sale of drugs and for confiscating or stopping circulation of spurious, misbranded or prohibited products. The case has been registered under various sections of BNS dealing with cheating, forgery and use of forged documents, adulteration and sale of adulterated or misrepresented drugs and criminal conspiracy, besides applicable provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
