Gittikhadan police in Nagpur have arrested a 30-year-old man, identified as Monnu alias Manowar Ansari, in connection with the alleged molestation of a five-year-old girl. The arrest took place in the early hours of Friday following a complaint filed by the child’s mother on Thursday night. The incident has raised concerns within the community regarding child safety and the need for vigilant law enforcement.
The incident occurred around 9 pm on September 10 when the child was playing outside her residence within the jurisdiction of Gittikhadan police station, according to police. A local resident, Suraj Wankhede (32), who reportedly witnessed the incident, immediately alerted the girl’s family.
The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway, police said. The accused, a resident of the same locality, allegedly approached the girl and committed an obscene act. The complainant’s nephew also informed her about the alleged act. Upon questioning her daughter, the mother learnt about the incident and subsequently approached the police. Based on the complaint, Gittikhadan police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police teams visited the spot, conducted a panchnama and recorded statements of witnesses as part of the investigation.
