“Residents’ cooperation and active participation during the land survey has bolstered efforts to foster coordination between the administration and the farming community and could serve as a positive example for other villages,” said a land survey official. Naib tehsildar Vijay Kavade said, “Coordination between the administration and local farmers is crucial during the Shaktipeeth Highway survey process. Farmers from Tulshi village cooperated with the administration by being present during the survey. This has sent a positive message about advancing govt work through local-level dialogue, coordination, and participation. Efforts for this process are being undertaken by the Madha sub-divisional officer and the Madha tehsildar under the guidance of district collector S. Karthikeyan. When local farmers and villagers welcomed the visiting officials, Tembhurni senior police inspector Balu Bharne, naib tehsildar Vijay Kavade (Madha Tehsil Office), a circle officer, a talathi and an agriculture officer were present on the occasion. We urge the govt to make water from the Sina-Madha scheme available to the people of Tulshi for irrigation benefits on the remaining agricultural land, and to arrange for alternative land for the farmers who are losing their land holdings. Meanwhile, Shaktipeeth Highway Virodhi Sangharsh Samiti has decided to hold a protest march to Solapur district collector’s office to question the collector about forced land acquisition in villages from Pandharpur. Key decisions were taken such as organising a march to the district collector’s office in Solapur within the next eight days to hold officials and police officers accountable; mobilising farmers across the state to join protests during the land survey in Solapur; and conducting village-level meetings in Solapur to boost the farmers’ morale. The meeting was addressed by MLA Jayant Patil, MLC Satej Patil, former MP Raju Shetti, and Coordinator Girish Phonde, along with representatives from across the state. Download the TOI App.
