Instead of helping farmers, the CM has sent his favorite officials: The wider industry impact

NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray slammed the Maharashtra govt

Mumbai: Slamming the state govt, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Friday alleged that it had splurged over Rs 5 crore on an officials’ trip to London for a summit while 75% of Maharashtra is reeling under a drought . Instead of helping farmers, the CM has sent his favorite officials abroad at a cost of Rs 5 crore. What is the reason for giving Rs 5 crore to that London-based company?

Samant confirmed that officials led by principal secretary (industries) P Anbalagan went to London to represent Maharashtra at the summit, but asserted that it was a truncated delegation.

Pawar said in a post on X. “Instead of foreign tours in the name of industrial development and studies, govt should first present an account to the public of exactly what was achieved from the previous foreign tours. ” Thackeray asked why the rest of the delegation went ahead with the trip when Fadnavis and Samant dropped out. “…Shouldn’t officials be going district to district trying to figure out electricity and water management for the super El Niño days instead of enjoying a taxpayer-funded junket to London?” he said in a post on X. Global India Business Corridor (GIBC) UK, which organised the trip, said, “The financial figure attributed to GIBC UK is incorrect, and the financial arrangements remain subject to finalisation. It said the event was planned eight months in advance and the attempt was to position Maharashtra prominently on the international quantum and AI stage, while creating opportunities for investment, technology collaboration, skills development and industrial growth.

The trip’s organisers disputed the figure. “The state is burning in drought… What greater misfortune than this? Which officials went on this tour? “CEOs, investors and scientific leaders had already committed their time and travel to these engagements. Senior official representation ensured continuity and honoured those commitments in state and national interests.”

CM Devendra Fadnavis and industries minister Uday Samant had dropped out of the ‘City Quantum & AI Summit’ in London, which was held on Wednesday, citing the drought situation in the state, but a delegation of officials participated in the event.
