A MahaRERA official said developers typically seek approvals during the festive season to capitalise on homebuyer demand. The entire MahaRERA team worked round the clock to process applications in time for the festive season,” an official said. Developers said they had submitted proposals well in advance of Dussehra to secure approvals in time for the festive period. “We were hoping the process would be expedited, and it is good that the authority was able to speed it up,” a Pune-based developer said.
“It comes at a time when consumer sentiment is high and the festive season traditionally unlocks strong housing demand, particularly across pockets like the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune. More importantly, MahaRERA’s meticulous approach builds homebuyer confidence and ensures timely project deliveries. Marathwada accounted for eight projects, seven in Sambhaji Nagar and one in Nanded. Two projects in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and one in Daman were also approved. “The extensions were granted in line with the plans submitted by the respective developers. Under MahaRERA rules, developers must obtain the regulator’s approval before making amendments, alterations or additions to a registered project. Developers unable to complete projects by their declared deadlines must also apply for extensions. Projects without valid extensions are categorised as lapsed, which can affect their progress. The approval process is intended to ensure that projects meet legal, technical and financial requirements while protecting homebuyers’ interests and promoting transparency in the real estate sector.
