Major routes, transit points and sectors across the Kumbh area will be assigned distinct colours to help pilgrims easily identify their locations and return routes.
Because they followed destination boards but lost track of their designated routes, “At the Prayagraj Kumbh, roads were clearly marked with entry and exit signages, yet many pilgrims emerged at locations far from where they had parked their vehicles.
A senior authority official said the idea emerged from lessons learnt during the Prayagraj Kumbh. Pilgrims simply follow the same colour from entry to exit, making it much easier to return to their vehicles or assigned locations,” the official said. A colour-coded system removes that confusion.
Officials said the entire Kumbh area would be divided into sectors. The authority said all signboards would conform to Indian Roads Congress guidelines to ensure durability and uniformity. During peak bathing days, particularly Parva Snan, devotees may not be allowed to move between sectors. The colour-coding system is expected to simplify movement and crowd management while helping visitors from outside Maharashtra navigate the vast pilgrimage zone. “The colour-coded signages will enable pilgrims to instantly identify their location and navigate towards their destination with ease. Once the colour zones are finalised in consultation with all stakeholders, the system will offer a simple and intuitive way for devotees to move across the Kumbh area without confusion,” the official added.
