NAVI MUMBAI: A senior technician (wireman) attached to MSEDCL ‘s office at Bokadvira, Uran was arrested by the Navi Mumbai Anti Corruption Bureau team after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 18,000 from the owner of a weigh bridge in Uran on Wed. The arrested accused was identified as Rameshwar Nivrutti Ghanmode, a Class-3 employee. An FIR was registered against him at Uran police station by invoking Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act for the offence relating to a public servant accepting bribe for official work.
Dharmaraj Sonake, deputy superintendent of police, Navi Mumbai ACB informed that, on September 2, a complaint was lodged by the owner of Nirbhay weigh bridge stating that his maternal aunt Anandibai Sadashiv Thakur, runs a canteen and parking business next to his office had told him that her electricity meter was removed by MSEDCL due to non-payment of bill.
