The blaze at the ground-plus-one-storey labour camp at Tata Nagar on Navghar Road in Mulund East
Around 200-300 workers were believed to be at the site when the fire broke out. A senior fire official said the circumstances leading to the reported cylinder explosions were also being investigated.
BJP corporator Prakash Gangadhare, who visited the spot, said he suspected the fire may have originated from a rubber gas pipe. “I found the circumstances suspicious and the possibility of the fire starting from the rubber pipe needs to be investigated,” he said. No one was injured in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established. All were safely evacuated. Fire personnel remained at the site even after the blaze was brought under control, cooling the area and checking for any residual hazards.
