Police officer said the accused had allegedly consumed a narcotic substance before trespassing into the building
Mumbai: Powai police arrested an unemployed man for allegedly assaulting a 40-year-old businessman’s wife while attempting to snatch her gold chain outside her first-floor flat on Sunday. Police said Sushil Shukla (35) entered Gayatri Sadan while residents were attending a Navratri event on the society grounds. Leena’s husband Kapilchand called police on emergency number ‘100’.
A police officer said Shukla had no previous criminal record and had allegedly consumed a narcotic substance before trespassing into the building. When Leena screamed, Shukla allegedly pulled her hair, attempted to cover her mouth and scratched her neck. He then allegedly pushed her into her flat and barged in. “Residents Chandrashekhar Uchhil and Vishal Jedia arrived after hearing her screams, apprehended the man and took him downstairs. After receiving treatment at Krantijyoti Mahatma Phule Hospital in Vikhroli for bruises on her neck, Leena lodged a complaint at Powai police station.
Police took the suspect into custody,” said a police officer.
