Mumbai: The BEST will upgrade eight routes to AC buses from Oct 5 while it will rationalise multiple other routes and cancel one route, sources in the undertaking said on Tuesday.
The routes being upgraded to AC services include: Route 145 (Byculla Station West to Nair Hospital), Route 223 Ltd. (Saat Bangla Bus Station to Samta Nagar Bus Station), Route 242 (Andheri Station West to Millat Nagar), Route 249 (Andheri Station West to Versova Yari Road Bus Station), Route 266 (Andheri Station West to Shri Swami Samarth Nagar Extended), Route 312 (Pratiksha Nagar Depot to SEEPZ Bus Station), Route 423 (Mulund West Check Naka Bus Station to Chandivali), C-505 (Santacruz Depot to C.B.D. In addition to these AC conversions, BEST is rationalizing multiple other routes—such as routes A-22, A-30, A-35, A-39, A-62, A-200, and A-394—by extending paths, introducing additional peak-hour services, or rerouting to better serve high-demand areas. Meanwhile, route A-471 between Ghatkopar Bus Station and Borivli Station East is being completely cancelled due to poor commuter response.
