No casualties were reported as fire brigade personnel swiftly evacuated residents, including women, children and elderly persons, from the affected houses. Nagpur: A fire that broke out in a slum adjoining Air Force Nagar wall in Hazari Pahad early Monday destroyed household belongings in four houses, two two-wheelers and several LPG cylinders.
The fire broke out around 3:30am, reportedly after an incense stick set clothes ablaze at the house of Bhavesh Patil , where clothes had been used to partition the dwelling. The flames soon spread to a two-wheeler belonging to Jyotish Hole. A second two-wheeler was also engulfed, following which the fire spread to Hole’s house. An LPG cylinder blast intensified the blaze, which then spread to adjoining houses. Another two LPG cylinders in the kitchen of Megha Khobragade’s house reportedly exploded, further aggravating the fire. The houses of Patil, Hole, Khobragade and Dhawanlal Bhoyer were gutted, with TVs, refrigerators, clothes and other household articles reduced to ashes.
The fire was reported to the civic fire control room by local resident Omprakash Jaiswal.
