The association said transformer capacity in industrial estates needed to be increased immediately, along with the installation of additional distribution transformers and new substations. It said frequent power dips, voltage fluctuations and interruptions were affecting industrial production and causing damage to CNC machines, motors and sensitive electronic equipment. The association said strengthening electricity infrastructure and improving the reliability of supply were necessary to support the growing requirements of industrial units and facilitate new investments in the region.
MIA president P. Mohan raised the issues during a meeting with MSEDCL director (Operations) Dhananjay Aundhekar. MIA also proposed the installation of series reactors wherever technically feasible to help stabilise the power supply. The association raised concerns over delays in providing new electricity connections through contractors. It sought strict monitoring of service level agreements and fixing responsibility to prevent such delays. MIA also demanded that the process of distributing electricity subsidies and reimbursing electricity charges under the Vidarbha-Marathwada power subsidy scheme be made completely digital and transparent. MSEDCL chief engineer Rajesh Naik, superintending engineer Praful Lande, executive engineer Prashant Tembhekar and other senior officials attended the meeting. MIA was represented by Mohan, Ajay Agrawal, Neelkanth Jaiswal and others. Representatives of BMA, Laghu Udyog Bharati, Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce and other industrial associations were also present. Download the TOI App.
