Nashik : A district court on Monday sentenced a 34-year-old man to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife (24) in 2022, while acquitting four other accused due to lack of evidence.
Following a complaint lodged by Arti’s mother, Adgaon police registered a murder case against five accused, including Kapse. After examining the complainant’s testimony, witness statements and circumstantial evidence presented by investigating officer Irfan Pathan, the court found Kapse guilty of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The remaining four accused were acquitted after the court found insufficient evidence to establish their involvement in the crime.
Assault Incident Involving Arti and Vishal Kapse
On the night of the assault, Arti was reportedly attacked by her husband, Vishal Kapse, along with four other family members. During the incident, Kapse used a shovel to strike Arti on the head and face, leading to serious injuries.
Prior to the attack, investigators revealed that Kapse had a history of harassing Arti for financial support from her family. Despite returning to her parents’ home multiple times, Arti often chose to return to her husband, believing his behavior would improve.
Principal district and sessions judge Rahul N Rokde convicted Vishal Rajaram Kapse, a resident of Malwadi in Mandsangavi, under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the murder of his wife, Arti. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000, with an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment in case of default.
