Guardian minister Girish Mahajan visited various villages in the district on Wednesday to review crop damage amid poor rain
In several pockets, crop conditions have deteriorated significantly due to inadequate soil moisture. During the visit, the minister reviewed crop conditions, interacted with farmers and assessed rainfall patterns, water availability and the extent of damage reported across affected regions.

He visited Shirwade Vani, Mangrul Phata, Chinchve, Patane, Nagaon, Mehune, Wakhari, Bhardi and Astagaon, where cultivators said the prolonged rain deficit during a critical growth phase had adversely affected kharif crops. Addressing officials, Mahajan said the combined effect of the monsoon break and El Niño-linked weather conditions had impacted agriculture in parts of the district.
The directions followed mounting concerns over the impact of a prolonged dry spell on farms. “The assessment must reflect the ground reality. The minister also reviewed water and fodder availability in drought-prone areas. He directed the agriculture department to promote fodder cultivation in water-scarce regions to prevent a shortage for livestock in the coming months. Officials were also asked to guide farmers on water conservation and crop management practices.
