Nashik : Maharashtra food, civil supplies and consumer protection minister Chhagan Bhujbal laid the foundation of a Rs 160 crore water supply scheme for Yeola town under the Amrut 2.0 mission. It aims to meet the town’s water requirements until 2056. “The water supply scheme has been planned keeping in mind the projected population of Yeola city until the year 2056.

Due to the expansion and growing population of Yeola, the current water supply is inadequate, forcing citizens to receive water at intervals of three to five days.

This will be reduced after the system is commissioned,” Bhujbal said. “The authorities need to promote fodder crop cultivation and explore possibilities of fodder growing in forest areas where water is available,” Bhujbal said. The project includes a new storage tank, water treatment plant, distribution network and elevated reservoirs, all powered by solar energy.
