Minimum temperatures dropped in Nashik a bit though day time was hot
Nashik : For the first time since June, Nashik’s main weather station recorded minimum temperatures below 20°C on Sunday and Monday, signalling a brief transitional spell as the region moves towards the end of the monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) observatory in Nashik recorded a minimum temperature of 19.9°C on Sunday, which fell further to 18.5°C on Monday. Maximum temperatures also dropped from 32°C to 29.7°C before rising above 30°C again on Tuesday.
Speaking on the weather development, Sushma Nair , scientist, IMD, Mumbai, explained that the drop in temperature was primarily driven by a change in wind direction. “The wind flow over the region has shifted from westerly to northerly. The cool northerly winds, combined with recent widespread rainfall and snow in northern states such as Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, brought down overnight temperatures across Nashik and adjoining regions,” she added.
Furthermore, as the monsoon continues its withdrawal and rainfall subsides over the next few days, daytime temperatures are projected to rise around Oct 4 or Oct 5, signaling the onset of typical Oct heat across the district.
Meteorologists said the cooler spell would be short-lived, with an approaching western disturbance and a weakening weather system over northern India expected to stabilise temperatures. Night temperatures are likely to return above normal within a couple of days.
