Nashik : The Nashik district administration will procure satellite imagery from 2005 to bring greater accuracy, objectivity and efficiency to the verification of claims under the Forest Rights Act.
District collector Ayush Prasad, while talking to TOI , said, “A provision of Rs 16 lakh has been sanctioned for the project under the guidance of guardian minister Girish Mahajan.
The satellite images will serve as an essential reference point, enabling authorities to cross-check historical claims,” a senior district administration official said. The funds have been allocated from the district annual plan. “Under the Forest Rights Act, settling land claims requires a thorough examination of people occupying forest land and the claims they make. In several cases, precise clarification is needed regarding actual land utilisation and boundaries during the baseline period, which is a tedious task.
