Nashik : The Yeola city police arrested three people, seizing 58 counterfeit notes of Rs500 denomination from them.

The three suspects are from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, said police inspector (PI) Sandeep Mandlik of the Yeola city police station.

The vendors then contacted Yeola city police and reported that some individuals had bought vegetables worth Rs50 or less and handed out fake Rs500 notes to them. Taking note of the situation, Yeola city police alerted a patrolling team nearby, who reached the spot and arrested two people carrying fake Rs500 notes. Another accomplice of the duo was arrested shortly after the incident.

On Saturday evening, two people were purchasing vegetables in a market along the Kotamgaon road in Yeola city when some vegetable vendors noticed something unusual about the notes they were handed.

Cases where fraudsters circulated fake notes in the market have been reported previously, wherein rural police apprehended criminals printing and circulating counterfeit currency. PI Sandeep Mandlik stated that a case has been registered against the trio and further investigation is underway.
