NAVI MUMBAI: The Navi Mumbai Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team laid a trap Thursday afternoon at MSEDCL’s Taloja office and caught red-handed an assistant engineer while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for providing feasibility report for installation of new electricity meter and transformer at an Electrical company in Taloja MIDC area. Dharmaraj Sonake, Deputy Superintendent (Dy SP) of Navi Mumbai ACB informed that, the arrested accused has been identified as Rohit Revanand More (32), a class 2 officer. An FIR under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the accused More at Taloja police station, for the offence of a public servant accepting gratification, a bribe, for performing official duty.
Dy SP Sonake said, “Since the work of preparing the feasibility report was being handled by MSEDCL’s assistant engineer Rohit More at Taloja office, the complainant met More on July 10 and inquired about the status of his application for seeking feasibility report of installation of new electricity meter and transformer at PN Electrical Company, when More demanded Rs 50,000 bribe for clearing his file.” The company has given him work order of installing MSEDCL’s new electricity meter connection and transformer.
