Mumbai: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) chairman Kishor Makwana and his team visited IIT-B on Thursday and sought a comprehensive account from the officials of the sequence of events preceding Sahil Wakode’s death.
Investigation Underway into Examination Incident
The chairman conducted an inspection of the classroom and examination hall where the recent examination incident occurred. He gathered information about the timeline of events during and immediately following the examination. In response to the situation, the commission instructed the institute to ensure the thorough collection, preservation, and analysis of all relevant evidence, including documentary, electronic, forensic, and testimonial materials. They highlighted the importance of recording statements from students, faculty members, and institute officials, as well as others who may have pertinent information.
Commission Reviews Investigation Progress with Police
The commission convened a meeting with senior police officials and the investigation team to assess the current status of the ongoing inquiry. They evaluated the details surrounding the First Information Report (FIR), the methods used for collecting and preserving evidence, and the availability of CCTV footage. Additionally, they discussed the examination of witnesses and other pertinent elements of the case.
