Nashik District Collector Ayush Prasad speaking to mediapersons after publising the draft electoral roll for Nashik district on Monday.

Nashik: As many as 10,27,894 names were removed from Nashik district’s electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision, with the draft voters’ list published on Monday showing 40,76,668 electors, down from the pre-SIR figure of 51,04,458. Of the 10,27,894 names removed, 5,51,702 are from the three Nashik city assembly segments and the Deolali constituency alone. Before the SIR, the three Nashik city constituencies had 12,60,402 voters, while Deolali had 2,96,617. The revision saw 4,74,616 names deleted from the city constituencies and 77,086 from Deolali. Prasad said the current exercise differs from the previous SIR conducted in 2002-03, which largely ended with the collection of enumeration forms.

District collector Ayush Prasad said the exercise has now entered the claims and objections stage. The list of Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) voters whose names were not included in the draft roll has been published at local self-govt offices, tehsildar offices, electoral registration Officer offices and on the district website for public scrutiny, according to the administration. Final decisions will be made only after verifying documents and records,” he said.

Prasad clarified that inclusion in the ASDD list does not automatically mean deletion from the electoral roll. “Voters who need to be issued notices will receive them as per the rules. Individuals concerned must present their case with necessary documents.

Enhanced Voter List Accuracy Through Technology

Officials have announced that technology is being employed to refine the accuracy of voter lists. Advanced software is now verifying discrepancies in identity details, age gaps, and duplicate photograph entries. This initiative is part of the publication of the ASDD (Additional Supplementary Draft Electoral) list, accompanied by a claims-and-objections process. The goal is to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the final electoral roll.
