Residents from Wakad, Pimple Saudagar, Tathawade, Thergaon, and Punawale said they were being forced to rely on private water tankers even during the monsoon—a season when tanker demand typically drops. “Officials have assured us that they will visit these societies within a week to assess the problem,” Londhe said. He added that the shortage appeared to be “artificial” given that the dams supplying the city are full. “I have asked our officials to visit these societies and check for localised issues,” Suryawanshi said. “We are ordering four tankers every day because the municipal supply is inadequate,” Londhe said.
They questioned why the civic water supply remains inadequate when the city’s primary water source is at maximum capacity. “If these visits do not take place, we have warned that we will launch a protest. Ajay Suryawanshi, joint city engineer for PCMC, claimed most of the complaining societies are relatively new and were built with developer no-objection certificates (NOCs) stating the builder would manage water supply until municipal lines reached the premises. “Water supply in other parts of the city is normal, so the problem appears restricted to specific areas. Whatever their concerns are, they will be addressed. However, Londhe disputed the civic administration’s claim that the issue is limited to newer properties. Download the TOI App.
