City Launches Traffic Study RFP
The city has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to select a consultant for comprehensive traffic operation studies. This initiative aims to analyze traffic flow patterns at some of the city’s busiest intersections. The chosen consultant will provide practical, data-driven recommendations to improve traffic management.
The consultant is expected to be appointed by the end of Sept or the first week of Oct, following which detailed studies and planning work will commence, according to a civic official. The study will focus on identifying bottlenecks, traffic conflict points and safety concerns at major intersections before proposing suitable engineering solutions,” the civic official said. Improving critical junctions is expected to play a major role in facilitating seamless traffic movement and reducing delays during the mega religious congregation,” the official said. The most suitable and feasible designs will then be selected for detailed planning and execution,” the official said.
The proposed interventions aim to improve road safety , reduce congestion and ensure smoother movement of vehicles and pedestrians. “The consultant will conduct field surveys, collect traffic data, assess existing road conditions and prepare improvement plans in accordance with Indian Roads Congress (IRC) guidelines. “The project forms a crucial part of the city’s preparations for the Kumbh Mela, when hundreds of thousands of devotees are expected to visit Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. “We will take assistance from traffic experts who will prepare concept plans for improving junctions across Nashik city.
The NMC plans to complete the identified junction improvement works before the commencement of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
