Donkey named Pannalal
The complaint was filed by Purushottam Dagu Avhad, an animal welfare officer appointed by Bombay High Court in 2023, who runs Mangalrupa Goshala. Govind and his brother Kishan travel across Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat, staging shows titled ‘Pannalal Ka Jalwa’ for Rs 20 per viewer.
He said he received an anonymous tip-off about a show near Sandip Hotel on the Kalika temple fair premises. Govind said the seven-year-old donkey responds to humorous questions by approaching people in the crowd. “Our family has run this traditional show for 35 years, a legacy started after our father bought a donkey in Karnataka,” he said, adding that they were unaware of the registration and training requirements.
