Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : The city police have registered an FIR against independent candidate Ramesh Kasare Patil and 12 others for allegedly violating prohibitory orders by taking out a symbolic funeral procession on Tuesday afternoon. The FIR was registered at Begumpura police station under section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act on the complaint of police constable Pandurang Gore. The procession allegedly violated the prohibitory order issued by police commissioner Pravin Pawar on Sept 30. The incident took place around 12.40pm on the road between Chandane Chowk and Annabhau Sathe Chowk, while the case was registered late on Tuesday.

Patil’s supporters also played drums and raised slogans during the procession, according to the FIR. Police said no permission was granted to the candidate or his supporters to hold any agitation, procession or demonstration while filing the nomination. The other accused named in the FIR are Vilas Sonawane, Mahadev Amle, Bhagwat Kale, Ranganath Chapate, Santosh Jadhav, Nita Kale, Shivaji Sadge, Sitaram Naik, Sopan Kale, Sharad Galbe and Arun alias Chhotu Shrisundar.
