The deceased, Wasi Haider Ismaili, a resident of Ghatkopar, was travelling towards Mulund for work when the incident occurred near the Rosary building on LBS Road at around 11.30am on September 18, according to the FIR lodged by his son Ali. The FIR states that Ali received a call from his younger brother at around 11.54am, informing him that their father had met with an accident near the Rosary building. The incident comes just days after two workers were killed when an iron staging structure collapsed at the under-construction Metro 4 Bhakti Park station in Wadala on September 12. It also follows the February 14 Mulund Metro 4 accident, in which a precast parapet slab fell onto the road, killing one person and injuring three.
The MMRDA is conducting an inquiry into the incident. The complaint names the project director, manager, site supervisor and the concerned company, alleging negligence in connection with the Metro construction work. Parksite police have registered a case and are investigating.
Haider was taken to Rajawadi Hospital and admitted to the emergency ward.
