Pune: A 21-year-old physiotherapy student died after a water tanker ran over her when she fell from the scooter she was riding with a friend after it skidded at Kalewadi Phata on Saturday evening. “On Saturday around 5:30 pm, Lute and Lavate were on their way to a mall in Wakad from Pimpri.
An officer from Kalewadi police said Lute and Lavate were friends. The tanker driver abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled. The deceased was identified as Sejal Lute, a native of Wardha district, by Kalewadi police. Her friend, Atharva Lavate, a resident of Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, is being treated at a nearby hospital. Lavate is pursuing an engineering degree at a city-based college. When they reached Kalewadi, their scooter skidded and they fell off the vehicle. Lute fell on the right side and came under the wheels of a water tanker travelling just behind them. Lavate escaped with minor injuries. ”
