A senior police officer told TOI that the 39-year-old constable joined the Pune city police force on compassionate grounds.
The constable, who is posted at Kalepadal police station, was on leave but was seen wearing her uniform at the time of the incident, police said. Her car does not have a registration number plate,” deputy commissioner of police (Zone VI) Jeevan Beniwal told TOI . “She had taken casual leave and had not reported for duty on Sunday and Monday,” he said.
Pune: Police have initiated the process of registering an FIR against a woman constable for allegedly driving her car in an inebriated condition on the wrong side of the road in Manjari early Tuesday morning. Local residents recorded videos of the incident and uploaded them on social media. “We have identified the woman constable seen drunk in the video and driving the car on the wrong side of the road. The incident took place early Tuesday morning in the Manjari area. Manjari police are yet to record her statement. Senior officers have sought details about her from Kalepadal police station to initiate further legal action.
