Pune: Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad traffic police have announced several traffic diversions and road restrictions for Dahi Handi celebrations on Sept 5, anticipating heavy crowd. Vehicles travelling from Saiz Chowk towards 14 Tanker Kaman will be stopped. Vehicles travelling from Bhairavnath Chowk towards 14 Tanker Kaman will be stopped.

The diversions will remain in force until the crowds disperse, depending on the situation. Bund Garden traffic division: 8am to midnight The road from Teen Tophha Chowk to Blue Nile Chowk via the Iskcon temple will remain closed. Vehicles can use the Blue Nile Chowk-Teen Tophha Chowk route in both directions. Wanowrie traffic division: 4pm onwards Traffic on Shivarkar Road will be closed until the crowd disperses. Vehicles will be diverted through Savitribai Chowk, Sangamesh School and Salunke Vihar. Vehicles approaching from Kondhwa will be diverted towards Kedari petrol pump. Faraskhana and Vishrambaug traffic divisions: 4pm onwards Several roads around Shivaji Road, Tilak Road, Bajirao Road, Puram Chowk, Sonya Maruti Chowk, Laxmi Road and Ganesh Road will face restrictions. Traffic heading towards Swargate from Shivaji Road will be diverted through Jangli Maharaj Road, Khandoji Baba Chowk and Tilak Chowk. Vehicles heading towards Shivajinagar from Puram Chowk will be diverted through Tilak Road, Alka Talkies Chowk and FC Road. Warje traffic division: 4pm onwards Traffic diversions will be implemented between Ambedkar Chowk and Church Chowk. Vehicles will be diverted through Karve Road towards Warje Junction. Traffic around Rajaram Bridge, Khemnis Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk and Paanand Road will also be diverted depending on crowd conditions. Cantonment traffic division: 4pm onwards Traffic from Golibar Maidan towards Vay Junction and Mahatma Gandhi Road will be restricted and diverted towards Khane Maruti Chowk. Traffic heading towards Solapur Road will be diverted through East Street, Indira Gandhi Chowk and Lashkar police station before being routed towards Teen Tophha Chowk. Additional restrictions will be imposed around Mukti Fauj Chowk, Qureshi Masjid, Mahavir Chowk, Sarbatwala Chowk, Babajan Chowk and Shivaji Market, with alternate routes being used as required. Katepuram Chowk: Vehicles heading towards Krishna Chowk will be stopped. Pimpri traffic division Jamtani Chowk: Vehicles heading towards Pimpri Gawade will be stopped. Nav Maharashtra Chowk: Vehicles heading towards Pimpri will be stopped. Bhosari traffic division Vehicles travelling under the Bhosari flyover on the Babar Chowk–Panchpakhadi Chowk stretch will be stopped. Vehicles travelling from the Phugewadi-Dapodi flyover towards Pune will be stopped. Chinchwad traffic division Vehicles heading from Krishnanagar Bhajimandi Chowk towards Sane Chowk will be diverted. Vehicles travelling from Nevlakare Corner towards Sane Chowk will be diverted. Wakad traffic division Vehicles travelling from Kalewadi Chowk towards Phoenix Mall will be stopped. Vehicles travelling from Jangawar Chowk/Shirole Petrol Pump towards Phoenix Mall will be stopped. Dehu Road traffic division Vehicles travelling from Pardewal Chowk towards Main Kaman, Mahadwar will be stopped. Traffic diversions in Pune on Saturday: The restrictions will mainly affect Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road and Tilak Road, where large gatherings are expected. Diversions in Pimpri Chinchwad on Saturday: Dighi traffic division Chikhali Phata: Vehicles heading towards Markal/Shikrapur will be stopped.
