Pune: Regional Passport Office (RPO), Pune, will conduct a special passport drive on September 5 to provide earlier appointment slots to applicants seeking fresh or reissue passports under the normal category. The drive, being organised as part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ initiative to improve the availability of passport appointments and delivery of services, will be held at 19 Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) under the jurisdiction of RPO Pune. The drive will be held from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, September 5. Applicants have been advised to report 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time. The passport authorities may seek additional information or documents where required to establish the genuineness of an applicant or for proper disposal of the application, in accordance with the Passports Act, 1967 and Passport Rules, 1980.
Applicants need to apply under the “Normal” scheme through Passport India website or the mPassport Seva app. The centres include PSK Pune, PSK Solapur, besides POPSKs at Ahilyanagar, Baramati, Beed, Dharashiv, Ichalkaranji, Jalna, Kolhapur, Latur, Madha, Nanded, Pandharpur, Parbhani, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Sangli, Satara, Shirur and Shrirampur. On completing the online payment, they can select their preferred PSK/POPSK and book a slot for the special drive date. It is strictly for normal-category appointments. Tatkaal applications and walk-in applicants will not be entertained during the special drive. Applicants are advised to check the document requirements on the Passport India website. Incomplete or incorrect documentation could result in the application not being accepted.
