Restrictions on Laser Lights During Ganapati Festival in Pune
Pune’s district collector, Jitendra Dudi, has announced restrictions on the use of laser lights for the upcoming Ganapati festival immersion processions, scheduled from September 14 to 25. This includes the main immersion event on Anant Chaturdashi, the 10th day of the festival.
The decision aims to ensure that public Ganeshotsav visarjan (immersion) processions occur peacefully while maintaining law and order. The health and safety of the public are also key considerations behind this order.
The Pune district administration has warned that individuals, organisations or Ganesh mandals found using laser lights during the visarjan processions in violation of the order will be liable for punishment and legal action under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws.
