Pune : Six men were arrested and two minors were detained on Sunday for allegedly hacking a 26-year-old man to death over an old dispute in Varale village, Maval taluka. The accused have been booked under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Arms Act. An officer from the Talegaon MIDC police said Shingade was murdered around 1.30 am at Shikshak Colony in Varale, where he had stopped to have tea with his friends.

“The accused then bludgeoned him to death with large stones and fled the scene,” the officer said. The Talegaon MIDC police identified the deceased as Prashant Shingade, a resident of Varale. The accused arrived at the spot and assaulted Shingade with sharp weapons, causing injuries to his head, chest, back, and hands. Personnel from the Talegaon MIDC police and the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch traced and apprehended the six men and their two minor accomplices.
