Sahil, 20, was found dead in his hostel room on Sept 18, hours after an incident during a mid-semester examination in which he was allegedly found using a mobile phone to access ChatGPT. IIT-Bombay has also constituted a 10-member high-level committee to examine the circumstances surrounding Sahil’s death. The call came as Sahil’s parents prepared to begin an indefinite hunger strike outside the IIT-Bombay campus from Thursday, demanding justice for their son. They were detained by the Bhandup police. The circumstances preceding his death have since become the subject of multiple investigations. Mumbai Police Crime Branch is probing the case.
Mumbai: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi spoke to the parents of IIT-Bombay student Sahil Wakode on Thursday, assuring them of support in their fight for justice following their son’s death.
Gandhi Connects with Wakode Family During Journey
Gandhi engaged in a video call with Ravindra and Sonali Wakode, lasting approximately 17 minutes, as the couple traveled from Washim district to Mumbai. The Indian Youth Congress president, Uday Bhanu Chib, and Maharashtra unit chief, Shivraj More, were present with the Wakode family during the call, according to party sources.
