Mumbai: Faced with multiple complaints about the arduous search for names on the state’s SIR draft list, the state electoral office has simplified the process to include search by name, mobile number and elector’s photo identity card (EPIC) number, among other options.
Voter Access to Draft Electoral Roll in Maharashtra
Voters in Maharashtra can now access the draft electoral roll for the upcoming SIR 2026 elections through the official website at https://ceoelection.maharashtra.gov.in/ceo/. To find their names, voters should select ‘Search your name in Draft Eroll of SIR 2026’ and choose from three search options: by EPIC number, by personal details such as state, name, relative’s name, age, date of birth, gender, district, and constituency, or by entering their mobile number along with the state.
However, some voters are expressing concerns about the accessibility of this process. One voter remarked, “There are 50 to 60 PDF files to go through and thousands of names. Is there a simpler way?” This highlights the potential challenges faced by citizens in navigating the electoral process effectively.
Voter Registration Process and Resources
Voters can register online via the Election Commission of India (ECI) website at https://voters.eci.gov.in, or in person at their local electoral registration office. They may also seek assistance from their booth level officer (BLO) or a booth level agent (BLA) affiliated with political parties. After submission, the electoral registration officer will review the application before adding the individual to the voter list.
Additionally, the draft list of registered voters, known as the SIR list, is accessible at multiple locations. This includes the ECI website, district election offices, and through representatives of political parties at the district level.
