For several years, Gajbar has been working towards the welfare of the transgender community and protecting their right to a dignified life. The award is constituted by the National Network of Transgender Persons. Gajbar is the co-chairperson of the divisional transgender rights protection and welfare board. She represents various concerns of the transgender community at the administrative level, serving as an important bridge between the govt and the community. One of her significant administrative interventions has been the removal of a medical certificate requirement for transgender beneficiaries under the Maharashtra govt’s Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Anudan Yojana (Sanjay Gandhi Destitute Pension Scheme).
