Solapur commissioner of police M Rajkumar said, “All nine central mandals have agreed to make Ganesh festival DJ-free. “No mandal used DJs during last year’s Ganeshotsav, so no cases were registered,” he said. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar deputy commissioner of police Shashikant Satav said that like last year, they have begun discussions with all stakeholders this year too to ensure DJ-free celebrations. As an additional measure, the Sambhajinagar police had ensured that no DJ system-mounted vehicle entered the city. Police took seized all such vehicles and registered cases. Citizens and civil society groups in cities across Maharashtra are demanding peaceful and DJ-free celebrations for the state’s most popular festival.
