MUMBAI : Tata Power on Wednesday announced it has established a formidable, diversified opportunity pipeline of over 2.8GW across 18 leading blue-chip data centre operators across India. Engaging in 29 active workstreams, the company is moving far beyond traditional power supply to offer a comprehensive, end-to-end ecosystem. To reliably support power-hungry AI and cloud workloads in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Tata Power is executing its ambitious Rs 15,000 crore Mumbai Grid Upgradation and Expansion Plan. With projections indicating that AI-driven data centres could demand up to 26.3GW nationwide by FY2031-32, reliable energy is a vital catalyst for national growth.
This includes powered land, transmission and grid connectivity, green energy, advanced storage, cooling solutions, and critical utility infrastructure tailored for hyperscalers. The initiative features the modernization of 110kV and 220kV networks, enhanced transformation capacities, and the development of new receiving stations. Crucially, a new 400kV transmission ring network and robust grid redundancy are being built to guarantee uninterrupted, secure electricity for large-scale digital hubs. By seamlessly integrating generation, transmission, and distribution, Tata Power is uniquely equipped to fuel India’s digital ambitions while ensuring a resilient, future-ready grid for Mumbai.
