Kolhapur : The booking charges for the Sangeet Surya Keshavrao Bhosale Natyagruha in Kolhapur have been fixed between Rs5,000 and Rs1 lakh for programmes at the theatre, following its renovation and reopening. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the renovated theatre on Aug 9 that had been damaged in a fire on the night of Aug 8, 2024 and was restored with Rs25 crore provided by the state govt. From Monday to Thursday, the charge for a dress rehearsal will be Rs15,000. Experimental plays, children’s plays, musical dramas and one-act plays will cost Rs18,000 during the same period and Rs30,000 will be charged between Friday and Sunday. Karaoke, classical and light-music programmes will cost Rs25,000 from Monday to Thursday, excluding govt holidays, and Rs35,000 between Friday and Sunday and on govt holidays. Singing programmes, meetings, political gatherings, orchestras, cultural programmes, lectures, receptions and business meetings will cost Rs35,000.
The charge for three sessions that will cover an entire day will be Rs1 lakh.

KMC officials said the rates were affordable compared to other cultural halls in the city. A committee comprising group leaders, opposition leaders and Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials had finalised the charges at a meeting. The KMC has developed a software for online bookings and demonstrated it to theatre distributors. Additional commissioner Ravikant Adsul, theatre manager Sameer Mhabri and technical manager Yashpal Rajput briefed distributors Anand Kulkarni, Girish Mahajan and Milind Ashtekar about the system. “The administration has made it mandatory to specify the proposed programme while applying online, to prevent people from securing advance bookings and charging extra money.
