Nashik : As voters scramble to locate their names in the draft electoral roll released by Election Commission of India (ECI) under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), authorities have urged citizens to verify their details by sending a text message to ‘1950’. The draft roll was published on Aug 31, following which ECI invited claims and objections regarding inclusions, deletions and corrections. Additional tehsildar Amol Nikam said citizens could simply send a text message in the format ECI and send it to 1950 to receive their voter details.

Another option is to search for their details on the voters’ service portal by using their EPIC number. “Using the EPIC number, I could easily access my details. Confusion, however, persisted at the grassroots level, with several booth-level officers (BLOs) admitting they had not yet received clear instructions on assisting voters with the new draft roll. Election officials attributed this to changes made during the revision process. Voters classified under the absent, shifted, dead or deleted (ASD) category may have had their records shifted to different parts, requiring fresh verification.
