Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : South Central Railway (SCR) has announced special Nanded-Sawantwadi Road-Nanded trains on demand to cater to the surge in passenger traffic during the Ganesh festival, establishing a direct rail link between Marathwada and the Konkan region for the first time.

The 24-coach rake will comprise AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, sleeper class, general second class and SLR coaches, according to SCR.

Latur Congress MP Shivaji Kalge said the service would benefit passengers from Nanded, Parbhani, Latur and other parts of Marathwada travelling to Konkan, as well as Pune and Panvel. We have also urged railway authorities to introduce a permanent train service connecting Marathwada and Konkan,” he said. He said the direct service would eliminate the need for passengers to change trains en route, offering a safer, more convenient and comfortable journey during the festive season.
