Officials attributed cargo growth to rising exports of grapes, agricultural produce, poultry products, defence consignments and industrial goods

The airport handled 4,230 tonnes of international cargo between April and Aug 2026, compared with 3,586 tonnes during the corresponding period of 2025-26, according to airport authority data.

They pointed out that air cargo handling and related charges at Nashik Airport are significantly lower than those at Mumbai airport, making it an attractive option for exporters,” a HALCON official said. Ashish Nahar, president of the Nashik Industries and Manufacturers’ Association (NIMA), said the sustained increase in air cargo movement over the past few years was an encouraging sign for the local economy. The city has strong export capabilities across agriculture, poultry, pharmaceuticals, engineering and several other sectors,” he said. NIMA vice-president Manish Rawal, who also heads the association’s aviation committee, said, “There is considerable scope for further expansion of air cargo movement from Nashik in the coming years as exporters increasingly look at alternatives to larger metropolitan airports.”

“Efforts are underway to expand exports to more international destinations and attract additional exporters from the region. “Nashik has established itself as a major agricultural centre, producing large quantities of grapes, onions and horticultural crops, while also emerging as a manufacturing and engineering hub. Nashik airport has significant potential to become one of the country’s important cargo gateways.
