Training workshop for engineers on maintaining the quality of Kumbh Mela projects
NTKMA officials said ensuring consistent quality across projects of different departments has emerged as a key challenge as project execution gathers pace ahead of the 2027 congregation.
Officials said the session enabled engineers to discuss practical challenges emerging at project sites, inspection observations and corrective measures required to address deficiencies. Kumbh Mela commissioner Shekhar Singh said such programmes help in creating a common quality culture across agencies. “These programmes provide a valuable platform for technical teams to share experiences, identify challenges and learn from each other,” he said.
Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) planned this initiative for quality management, inspections and execution standards of the projects. It comes at a time when multiple agencies are simultaneously executing roads, water-supply schemes and other Kumbh-related infrastructure projects across Nashik. At a technical training programme held on Wednesday, IIT Bombay professor Dharmaveer Singh interacted with engineers and project teams, sharing best practices in quality excellence and continuous improvement in infrastructure projects.
The authority believes that continuous training, third-party quality audits and knowledge-sharing initiatives can help ensure that the assets created for Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 meet prescribed standards of quality, safety and durability.
Officials said the training is significant, as there are infrastructure projects being executed and they are worth several hundred crores. The session was attended by NTKMA deputy commissioner Yogendra Chaudhari, NMC city engineer Sanjay Agrawal and representatives of TÜV SÜD South Asia Pvt Ltd, the authority’s third-party quality control agency.
