PALGHAR: An earthquake of 3.7 magnitude was recorded in Palghar district at 7.16pm on Thursday, triggering brief panic among residents.
A 2.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Talasari on April 10, while a 3.6-magnitude tremor was reported there on September 26. No casualties or damage were reported immediately. The Kurze area in talasari taluka was identified as the epicentre, with the tremor originating at a depth of around 7km, according to the National Centre for Seismology. Tremors were felt in talasari and parts of the district, including areas around vikramgad. Palghar has recorded several earthquakes over the past four to five years, with Dahanu and Talasari witnessing the highest number of tremors.
