The Pune crime branch has apprehended two individuals in connection with the assault and robbery of an autorickshaw driver. The incident occurred on June 10 in Lohegaon after the driver confronted one of the suspects regarding his wife. Following the registration of the robbery case, the suspects fled the area. They were arrested in Khadki on Thursday, following a tip-off to the police.
An officer from the crime branch said that around 10pm on June 10, the complainant was waiting for a passenger near Pune Airport when he noticed his wife riding pillion with a man from his locality. The accused allegedly robbed him of Rs18,000.
“The complainant’s wife left him after the incident and had been living with the accused,” the officer said. They were handed over to the Lohegaon police,” he said. He followed them and stopped them along the Lohegaon-Wagholi road. When the complainant confronted his wife and the man, the accused allegedly attacked him. His wife also joined the accused in assaulting him. The latter’s relative then reached the spot and thrashed the complainant. “We laid a trap and took the duo into custody.
He said police received a tip-off on Tuesday that the accused and his relative had come to Khadki.
