Woman ‘Threatens False Rape Case’ To Extort Rs2.5 Lakh From Medical Store Owner’s Wife

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Mankapur police in Nagpur have charged a 26-year-old woman with extortion. She is accused of demanding Rs 2.5 lakh from the wife of a medical store owner. The woman allegedly threatened to falsely implicate the store owner in criminal cases, disrupt his business, and have him assaulted by her brother if her demands were not met.

He alleged that the woman asked for sleeping pills, which he refused to give her, and later demanded Rs 50,000, which he also declined. Police said the woman subsequently called his wife and threatened to implicate him in false cases of rape, molestation and cheating unless Rs 2.5 lakh was paid. Meanwhile, the woman has also filed a counter-complaint against the 37-year-old medical store owner, alleging that he made an obscene offer to her.

The two met at a gym on Godhani Road and later came into regular contact after she began visiting his medical store, according to the store owner’s complaint.
