On Tuesday, Taloja police apprehended a 22-year-old male suspect while he was attempting to steal cash from an ATM kiosk located in Taloja Phase-1. The suspect inserted a metal plate into the cash dispensing slot, which caused a blockage, preventing customers from withdrawing cash. This incident disrupted service for users of the ATM, prompting a swift police response that led to the arrest.
Pravin Bhagat, senior inspector of Taloja, said, “The arrested accused was identified as Aqib Mohammad Irsad Khan, a resident of Thakur Ubora society in Taloja phase-1. The incident occurred on Wednesday around 12 midnight. He had entered the ATM kiosk in Ramdev Tower, sector-11, Taloja phase-1.
Navi Mumbai: A 22-year-old youth was arrested by Taloja police on Tuesday while he attempted to steal cash from the ATM kiosk in Taloja phase-1 by inserting a metal plate in the cash dispensing slot due to which customers visiting the ATM were unable to collect cash as it got blocked due to the metal plate. The accused was caught red-handed. After entering the ATM kiosk, he inserted a metal plate in the cash dispensing slot with the intention of trapping the cash inside the slot when the bank customers withdraw cash. However, the bank’s control room received an alert about tampering of the ATM kiosk and information was provided to the police station. Subsequently, the beat marshal constables on night patrolling duty were informed by wireless message. Hence, he was apprehended and escorted to police station, where he confessed his crime. He was arrested after registering an FIR against him under BNS section for trying to commit a crime.
He was produced before the Panvel court that remanded him to police custody till Thursday.”
