Palakkad : A 65-year-old man died on Friday night after being stabbed by his 16-year-old grandson at their house near Alathur. The elderly man was trying to prevent the teen from attacking the latter’s 10-year-old sister.

The girl, who was also injured in the attack, has recovered from the injuries, police said. The elderly man intervened to protect the girl but sustained serious injuries to his chest, neck and abdomen. The teenager allegedly fled after the attack but Alathur Police later apprehended and shifted him to a juvenile home. Download the TOI App.
The deceased man succumbed to his injuries at Thrissur medical college hospital. The grandfather was initially admitted to a private hospital in Alathur and later shifted to Thrissur medical college hospital for specialised treatment. However, he died while undergoing treatment.
