In the A Grade final for Irutukuthi Churulan boats, Garudan of Naduvilkara Sangam Boat Club emerged winner, while Vadakkumpuram Churulan of Mupattithara Jala Sangham Boat Club won the B Grade final. Hanuman won the trophy for the best display boat. The minister said the state govt would take steps to include the Kandassankadavu boat race on the tourism map. The Chundan final, witnessed by a large crowd gathered on both banks of the Canoli canal, saw Alappadan Chundan defeat South Paravoor Boat Club’s Jawahar Thayankari Chundan to claim the chief minister’s trophy. Twenty two boats, including two chundan, participated in the water festival procession. In the swimming competition, Aditya Narayan secured first place, while the siblings Akhil Raj and Atul Raj finished second and third, respectively. The water festival was inaugurated by minister O J Janeesh. District collector Sikha Surendran and Manaloor MLA Raveendranath were among those who spoke.
