Seeman, who has announced his candidature, said he would accept support from the DMK and AIADMK if offered, but clarified that such backing should not be construed as an alliance. DMK president M K Stalin , when asked about supporting Seeman, said, “Let the election date be announced first. Let the election be announced first,” he said.

Asked whether the AIADMK would concede Ambasamudram to Seeman, Sreenivasan declined to commit. “There is no question of conceding the seat or not conceding it.

Madurai : AIADMK treasurer Dindigul Sreenivasan on Monday said the party would devise a new electoral strategy to capitalise on the 65% voter opposition to the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming byelections. Accusing the government of failing to control inflation, he claimed rice prices had increased by ₹20 to ₹25 per kg in six months.

Dismissing Vijay’s proposed 25km roadshow, Sreenivasan said, “Even if he conducts a roadshow covering 100km, he will not win. “People are suffering and wondering why they voted for him,” he said. He described such roadshows as unnecessary and claimed they reflected the ruling party’s “fear of defeat. He also criticised power failures at Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple during visits by Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan and EPS, calling them an example of administrative incompetence.

Asked how the divided opposition vote could be consolidated, Sreenivasan said AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami would decide the strategy. “Our general secretary will decide what needs to be done with those votes to secure victory,” he said.
