IUML now has five ministers holding key portfolios, in addition to the cabinet-level post of chairman of the administrative reforms commission, he said. Addressing a news conference, Surendran said BJP had predicted when the UDF govt came to power that IUML and Jamaat would be the real forces running the govt. “”Govt is now protecting Pinarayi Vijayan and his family,” he alleged.
Surendran claimed that IUML had, for the first time in its political history, secured six cabinet-level positions. He recalled the controversy in Keralam when the party had sought a fifth minister during the Oommen Chandy govt. Though Satheesan is at the helm, govt is being controlled by IUML and Jamaat,” he alleged. UDF had promised to create a ‘new-age Keralam’, but people had instead been faced with power cuts and unemployment, he claimed. He further alleged that govt had failed to extend the validity of Public Service Commission rank lists despite its promise, and had completely derailed Sabarimala inquiry. Download the TOI App.
